PGA Tour Publishes New Revamped Schedule For 2018-19 Season

The PGA Tour has made some changes to the schedule for the 2018-19 season. There was much speculation to the changes made over the last couple months and today they published the new schedule for next year.

A couple of notable changes stick out to me. The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass has been moved from May to March, and the PGA Championship has moved from August to May. This really sets the tone for the season. We now have a major tournament every single month starting with the “5th Major” The Players in March, The Masters in April, the PGA in May, The US Open in June, and The Open Championship in July.

The Major season will come to an end in July with the FedEx Cup Playoffs (now only 3 events) starting in August. The opening event to the FedEx Cup Playoffs will alternate annually between Liberty National in New Jersey and TPC Boston in Norton, Ma.

The vast majority of the season will come to an end before the NFL season kicks off which I think is the main goal here for the PGA Tour. The Tour doesn’t want to bump heads with the NFL on Sundays.
