Tiger Woods capped off a tremendous comeback season in 2018 with a win at East Lake to capture the Tour Championship. After some much needed rest post playoffs and Ryder Cup, he is set to make his debut in the 2018-19 season at the Hero World Challenge.
When: Thursday November 29 – Sunday December 2.
The Field: Tiger Woods is amongst a field of just 18 players that will be teeing it up next week in the Bahamas at the Hero World Challenge competing for the $3,500,000 purse. The field is determined based on major wins and world rankings along with two unrestricted exemptions that were used by Henrik Stenson and Gary Woodland.
Four of the top five players in the latest world rankings: Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau.
The Others: Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Jason Day, Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Alex Noren, Hideki Matsuyama and Patrick Cantlay, who took the place of Players champ Webb Simpson who withdrew from the event. The field will be rounded out by Rickie Fowler, who will return to Albany to defend his title of the 2017 Hero, where he finished at -18, 4 strokes ahead of Charley Hoffman.
The Course: The 2018 Hero will return to the Albany Golf Club, a par-72 course that stretches out to 7,400 yards in length.
This course looks like a slice of heaven in the Bahamas that will surely be a treat to the very limited size field.
I am really looking forward to this upcoming season. the 2017-18 season was huge for the game of golf. Love him or hate him, what Tiger does for the game of golf is absolutely insane. It was great to see him compete at a high level again and eventually get into the winners circle. I’m really looking forward to this season. We’re all in for a treat.
